Eversource NH Clean Energy Fund Home Battery

With the solar rebate repealed, this is New Hampshire's most valuable residential clean energy incentive. Eversource pays $230 per eligible kWh of battery capacity up to $3,000, as a cheque after your permission to operate and demand response enrolment. The battery must have been purchased after October 1, 2022, you commit to three years of demand response with roughly 40 events between June and September, and only Enphase and FranklinWH systems qualify. Funding is limited. Liberty Utilities' equivalent program is closed to new applicants.

New Hampshire does not credit exports at full retail. Under RSA 362-A:9, a small customer-generator earns the Default Energy Service charge plus the Transmission charge plus 25% of the Distribution charge. Two things catch people out: if you buy your electricity from a competitive supplier rather than default service, you forfeit the Default Energy Service portion of the credit — a substantial loss. And non-bypassable charges are assessed on your gross consumption, so solar doesn't reduce them. These figures come from Eversource's tariff; Liberty, Unitil and NHEC set their own.

The Department of Energy has said it will run a stakeholder process on possible replacements; nothing has emerged.
